Using buildroot to build a system: Hangs after 'Freeing Unused Kernel Memory'

Hi all!

Probably something elementary, but:

Why does the system I buit with buildroot hang after 'Freeing Unused Kernel Memory'?
Could it be because there is some reason why the kernel & the rest of the rootfs don't get along with each other? Any options that need to be set/unset while compiling the kernel?
