What is XMALLOC and how it compares with malloc?

I can not find anything to explain what is xmalloc with respect to uClibc
other than a few cvs checks and diffs. 

I'm getting seg faults whenever doing malloc/xmalloc on an application
compiled using ARM & uclib which otherwise works perfectly on regular Linux (glibc)

Browsing the source (Very nice!) only found source code for MALLOC
